The movie is about the continuation of Char Aznable's contribution in the Battle of Loum, which became the starting point of One Year War, the war between Mobile Suit in Universal Century's history in the Gundam series.
This war is also an important point where famous pilots such as Char and also Black Tri-Stars (Gaia, Ortega and Mash) get their nickname.
